Jim Bilotta has taught STR workshops throughout Canada to a variety of health care professionals including Registered Massage Therapists, Athletic Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Kinesiologists, Chiropractors, Osteopaths and students of these professions over the past 15 years. He was first introduced to soft tissue release by Stuart Taws who developed, and has taught, STR workshops since the mid 1980’s. Jim assisted Stuart in STR workshops held at Brock University from 2003-2005 before beginning to teach STR workshops on his own.
Jim is an Athletic Therapist and Registered Kinesiologists who has been employed at the Brock University Sports Medicine Clinic for the past 30 years. He also teaches part time for the Department of Kinesiology at Brock. He has been a certified member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists’ Association since 1992. After completing a Bachelor of Physical Education (honors) degree at Brock University in 1987 and a Diploma in Sports Injury Management at Sheridan College in 1989, he earned a diploma in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1997. This was followed by a Master’s degree in Education from Brock in 2004, specializing in adult learning. The Soft Tissue Release workshop and manual were developed as part of his graduate work. Jim utilizes many adult-learning principles in his workshops to help participants understand the soft tissue release principles, skills and techniques.
He has been on many Canadian Medical Teams internationally including the Pan American Games in Argentina, the Para Olympic Games in Atlanta, and the World University Games in Japan and Sicily.
